Nope, but it should be. I think that entire Chicagoland area should become it's own state, so those that live outside of that area won't have to take care of it. It would probably rank 12th in population so its big enough it could take care of itself.

Since I'm not really a fan of most large cities, this one is easy. The Upper Great Lakes states of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan get my vote. Northern Minnesota in particular is beautiful to me.

1) Wisconsin is my favorite Midwestern state.

Madison is one of the coolest designed cities I've ever seen. How it's built on and around a lake.

Green Bay and it's pro-football culture & huge stadium, is one of the biggest feeling small cities I've visited.

Milwaukee with it's brewing history and historic buildings is an interesting city.

There's plenty of good beer, brats, cheese and corn.

2) Missouri
3) Ohio

Michigan is my favorite. It is achingly beautiful in many areas. Its a shame it doesnt get the attention it deserves. But then again, if the secret got out, it would become flooded with tourists, so I guess its a good thing that MI is underrated?

Michigan has a lot of beautiful great lake coastline, making it pseudo-coastal. I still for the life of me will never consider a freshwater lake as coastal, no matter if it's big enough you can't see across it. It's the most beautiful midwestern state for sure, but it needs mountains.

Northern areas of Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Michigan. If only more positions in my career field existed in those areas..

Michigan- I love their beaches. White sand and clear blue water. In the summer time it feels like Florida, without the palm trees.

Wisconsin- The Dells and Door County. Nice places to tour.

Illinois - Chicago!

If Illinois didn't have Chicago would the state have anything going for it?
