Was the whole US in the 70's and 80s as dangerous as New York?

The 70s and 80s were incredible compared to now. We didn't have the Internet to distract our time, so we spent more quality time with people. We spent more time outside instead of at a computer, playing video games, or glued to portable phones. We didn't have cable "news" spoon-feeding us bullshyte, so we actually got a glimpse of reality. We tended to read more, and exercised our brains the old-fashioned way. We had presidents who resembled the many who came before. People were much more relaxed and enjoyable to be around. The intelligence level of Americans was many levels higher than now. There's a huge decline between then and now. We're lesser of a nation, and lesser of a people.

Actually, younger generations of Americans are more educated than older generations. I can easily tell you that Baby Boomers and Generation Xers still have some leftover racism in their hearts from being born and raised in a more reactionary time. Millennials are honestly the first truly open-minded generation; you would have never seen the level of relaxed social interactions between all races and ethnicities back in 1977, 1987, or 1997. Hell, maybe even 2007, and in 1967 it was all nothing but a pipe dream. And it is indeed ironic that you criticize the use of the internet and digital media and gadgets in today's world when you are using them yourself on this thread.
