If more people visited Minneapolis the MIA would be higher on people's radar, it is a great museum.

I love the Field Museum, but agree that I wouldn't consider it an art museum.
Crystal Bridges is incredible. It's the new museum built by the Walton family in Bentonville, AR. If you are not familiar with it, you should really visit their website. It has an incredible collection of American art. And gorgeous architecture on a gorgeous site.

A few pics from Cleveland's University Circle neighborhood...home of the Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland Museum of Contemporary Art (MOCA), and the Cleveland Institute of Art.

The Cleveland Art Museum is pretty good, especially with its new mega atrium

And if you travel to Cleveland, there is a pretty good art museum in Oberlin as well.

The Morris Museum in Augusta seems a little strange on a list of cities like NYC, Atlanta and LA, but the museum is a very good attraction and I would highly recommend it for my southern historians.

After NYC, I'd say DC, Chicago, Philly, Boston, and LA have the best art museums.
