I would like to say, the eastern KY accent and the western KY accent are a little different. Also both are VERY different from Northern KY, which has more of an Ohio accent.

Western KY has a Tennessee-type accent, actually. That's what I have.

I would argue that Ohio, like Indiana and Illinois, doesn't have a universal accent.

I haven't been out of Syracuse in 18 years. Only time I had a problem with my accent was when a few wise guys poked fun at it during a visit to a Portland, Oregon sports bar.

There's nothing to dislike about my accent. Like most people raised in larger cities around the Deep South, my drawl is hardly distinct in an overwhelming way, but it's there, nonetheless.

"Hating" one's own accent seems rather silly and a bit narcissistic.
