Hi!

I am from Norway, but I'm half american, and I would like to move to the states.
The thing is, I dont really know where to go to find my ideal place, so I need some help.

I want to live in a pretty small town, close to village. It needs to be pretty warm all year, not like Idaho where it gets really cold.

I want lakes, mountains, a little bit of the good old cowboy style, but not totally. Then again, I also want a bit of city life.

I would like a safe enviroment, and hopefully not to far from the sea. But the sea isn't a big obligation. :-)

I've heard the west coast might suit me, but I am not very good when it comes to the US, geografically..

Thanks!

San Luis Obispo, California would be a good choice for you. It's centrally located on the California coast about halfway between San Francisco and Los Angeles. San Luis Obispo Travel: Experience the best of California | San Luis Obispo

Move to Montana...Check out Bozeman, Billings, or any of the several smaller towns east of Butte.

This is true. But, the cowboys the op mentioned would be more like surfers.

But he wants something not too cold. Not sure Montana fits with that. Otherwise, great place!

Lakes and mountains, warm, close to cites and ocean. Maybe try looking into lower Appalachian region? Eastern Tennessee, western North Carolina, northern Georgia, northwestern South Carolina, maybe even northeastern Alabama. Not really a cowboy kind of area but other than that it might fit.

I was thinking Santa Barbara, though San Luis Obispo would be a good choice too. In terms of climate and recreation the Central Coast of California somewhere between LA and San Francisco would be perfect for the OP.
