New York City has the Empire State Building.
St. Louis has the Gateway Arch.
San Francisco has the Golden Gate Bridge.
Toronto has the CN Tower.
Los Angeles has the Hollywood Sign.
etc.

^These are all identifiable landmarks, but what are the 5 biggest cities in North America that do NOT have an identifiable landmark in your opinion?

Houston and Pheonix must be two of them, I'd guess.

agreed, most major city sklines have buildings that pretty much identify where they are, like that Batman building in your hometown screams Nashville, couldn't be anywhere else.

Iconic landmarks in the league of the St. Louis Arch or Statue of Liberty are only in a handfull of North American cities.

Well not identifiable to world because that would be a stretch. But identifiable to the North American population (general public).
