The Central Time zone is the most convenient/best. It is nice not having to stay up so late for sporting events.

As far as the cities/places, I like the Eastern time zone the best. The Atlantic coast and southeast are great.

This may have already been stated, but the central and mountain zones allows one to get to sleep earlier. By that, I mean tv is one hour earlier, (not so much as important with technology today, but I digress). SNL and Leno and Letterman are at 10:35. The late news is 10. The early late night news is 9. Sporting events, yes, they end earlier too. In my mountain zone, I can watch Conan at 9pm, two hours earlier than most.

Beyond these tv advantages, I can't think of any other bonuses. However, one thing about the mountain zone it is just huge. The sunset on the eastern side of the mountain zone is much earlier than the western side, of course sunrise is just the opposite, but who really cares about sunrise?

Then what is there to watch from 10 to midnight in MST?

It seems to me that almost everything about the Central Time Zone is geared to mirror Eastern, just an hour earlier.

Well, unless you are just kidding, as I said, the late news is on at 10pm, and Letterman/Leno start at 10:35. Where I live, the ABC affiliate is delaying Kimmel to 11:05 to add an extra half hour to their late local news.

Yes, in the early days of TV, when there was a lot more live programming, this system was set mainly so the Central could catch shows live as well. I don't think they cared about MTN/PACIFIC back then.

At times, it seems that TV to this day could care less about Mountain Time. Eastern is the US de facto time zone. I just assume anything mentioned on Eastern is an hour earlier on Central. Thanks to California, the Pacific gets some love too.

The one thing about living in Arizona and the lack of DST in most of the state is seen during the spring and summer months. When it comes to cable, most of the times TV shows come on are the same as the advertised times. I can see how cable channels broadcast to the Pacific Time Zone vs the Mountain Time Zone.

Don't all the time zones tell time the same way ... eventually?

What a silly thread.
