Philly and DC are lower than their black population would suggest while miami, la and detroit are higher. Ny, atl, chicago, houston and dfw are where they should be
People are sleeping on the fact that LA has a larger black population in numbers than Houston. But Houston has a higher percentage of blacks than LA. LA has the 8th largest Black population in the US, but it's washed out from the diversity in this city.

Harris County Black Population= 736,642

Los Angeles County Black Population= 860,347

I think it's the population that hurts LA's black percentage rather than the diversity.

Also, we have to keep in mind that a lot of the black population in the Houston metro is in Fort Bend County as well.

Here are the city limits populations.

LA 487,674
Houston 457,990

I think what may hurt LA here is that I believe a lot of Blacks, along with a lot of other people, have moved to the Inland Empire which is its own MSA now. If CSAs were used, you'd probably see LA rank a bit higher (as well as DC, which would be combined with Baltimore).

But that stat is listing the whole metro Blk pop. La metro black pop is less than 900k
Houston metro is half the size of LA AND HAS 1.1million black people.

Yeah la county has that number but la county has what? 10million people?

LA does not have more blacks than Houston. It is below Houston, dfw and Detroit

I guess the other list you posted was a little tease/shock and it kinda gave a false sense of realization for the metro list. lol

The LA CSA has more Blacks than Houston CSA...for now. But the Houston MSA has more Blacks than LA MSA.

Houston ranks 7 for black businesses which is where it should be, it ranks 6th for Asian businesses which is outperforming its population ranking for Asians and it ranks 3rd for hispanic businesses which is also an overperformance. So Houston is also an across the board performer like NY.

For those interested the hispanic list is as follows:

LA 360k
Ny 260k
Houston 110k
Dfw 70k
Sf/sj 70k
Chicago 55 k
DC 50k

For Mexican owned business Houston is second ny is 6th, atl is not in the top ten

I have much respect for Houston. Are all of these lists from 2007?

I slipped on that one. The LA MSA has a much larger population than Houston MSA.

But not on that level that all star weekend is bringing. I work for Grand hustle .. and there are constant industry events going on here in Atlanta. I made that statement based on someone saying Houstons urban nightlife is on par with Atlanta based on All star weekend.. on a regular weekend its not on par when it comes to Quality , Quantity, etc its close but not there yet . And no I'm not trying to discredit Houston but just going off observation.
