I live in Boise Idaho and am looking to make a change. I want a city the size of Boise or a bit smaller Maybe 70K-300K. Im sure I want the same things as most, but if anyone has any ideas I'd appreciate it.
- Most days of moderate weather. Between the too hot, rainy, windy, or too cold days I can't get outside much.
- Tons of parks and trees. We love to take our toddlers out for walks.
- safe area with low crime
-ability to find a job reasonable
- Minimal amounts of snow
- Problem with Boise is the lack of Forrest close, not enough trees, weather to extreme on too many days.
- We are laid back and enjoy sitting outside, walks, good restaurants, scenic sites, childrens museums, zoos, arboreums, botanical gardens, etc.
Some places we have seen or debated are.... Seattle beautiful but too rainy and big. But trees are great. Texas too hot and humid and bugs! Asheville, NC sounds nice. My husband says that Fayetteville, AR is a nice place.

Any ideas would be great. Thanks!!!
Have you thought about someplace in central Washington, like Wenatchee? It doesn't get as much rain as Seattle, though it gets occasional snow, and it's surrounded by National Forest.
The only worry I had with Wenatchee would be the size. Pretty small so I wasn't sure how hard it would be to find a job.I'll look more into it. Thanks for the suggestion.
Nashville is probably too big. Chattanooga, Knoxville, or Johnson city are worth considering. The first 2 have lots of parks, Johnson City is smaller and close to the mountains. They all get humid in summer, though.
Like everywhere, crime depends on the neighborhood. Funny, I didn't think of Boise as crime ridden.
Boise isn't crime ridden at all. Its actually quite good for the size. I checked Knoxville but the crime looked a bit high. Nashville was too big, but I'll check out the others. Thank you for the help!
Sorry, I just re-read your post and realized I'd jumped to the wrong conclusion.
Knoxville has a zoo and 3-4 botanical gardens. Chattanooga has an Aquarium and a better children's museum. Chattanooga has a better waterfront, Knoxville has better greenways and an "Urban Wilderness". Johnson City doesn't have these urban amenities but you might like it better for the size.
Maybe take a road trip in July and August and check out all 3 cities. As well as Asheville (Hippie and more pricey) and Huntsville Ala (high tech).
