Though I missed the post you quoted, I agree. We had the first modern democracy. Europe was more wrapped up in their monarchies and their class systems.

The forest is also the deciduous type...with bright leafy green leaves; not the drab dark green you would find in northern CA, for example.
Someone has never been to Washington state.

I have never been to Washington state. I know that it's beautiful. But that doesn't mean that the northeast isn't beautiful.

The original poster forgot the other world class city in the NE corridor, DC, which I would place above Philly. Otherwise I completely agree with him. End to end the corridor is filled with Awesome.

(The west coast is awesome too, but I love the NE corridor more.)

Oh for certain! I have heard the northeast is gorgeous! I just wanted to make sure it was known that not all of the west is brown. This country has many beautiful regions, that's for sure!

I agree 100%. The entire country is beautiful, even the Midwest with it's wide open plains.

I think every region of our country has some breathtakingly beautiful scenery. No one particular region is "the best" when it comes to natural OR man made beauty.

Of course, individuals may PREFER the beauty of one region over another, but that's simply a subjective opinion. It cannot be proven as fact - because the only fact involved is the fact that an individual has a preference.

Very true - most is preference and much is familiarity
