The Southeast, for its variety.

Honestly, off the top of my head, the only thing the North has that we don't is its beautiful rocky coasts and more natural lakes.

I think this should be focused on states. IMO, the most scenic in the northeast are New York and Maine. In the southeast, it's Tennessee, Florida and Virginia - although the flatness of Florida is kind of a turnoff for me.

Yeah the lakes in the South are yucky. I love the clear water lakes in NY, NH, and Vermont, Lake Champlain is especially awesome.

If the north had red clay as part of its soil, then the lakes of the northeast would also look muddy after heavy rains.

I have never been there, but I'm fairly certain New England in the fall would be the winner in my book.

I chose the Southeast. A lot of Eastern KY, TN and western NC have four seasons and all the fall color stuff that make the North East scenic, but the Appalachian regions are in my opinion, some the most beautiful in the world.
