SE Arizona.
Surprisingly (and most unlike SW Arizona) SE Arizona has a relatively mild climate. Whereas July high temps in Yuma (SW Arizona) average 107, places like Sierra Vista and Benson have average July highs of only 93 or. January highs in the area are about 60. This is because SE Arizona is at a higher altitude (Southern Arizona generally slopes upwards as you move to the East). My land near Benson is at 4,200 feet, whereas Yuma is at something like 200 feet.
The other thing different between SW and SE Arizona is the fact that SE Arizona is heavily influenced by the summer monsoons that drift up out of Mexico during July and August, producing some spectacular lightning displays and about half the years rainfall. This of course means the area is much greener than SW Arizona. The various mountain ranges in the area (sometimes referred to as the Sky Islands) tend to build up thunderheads over them that time of year and then dump rain in very heavy afternoon and evening showers. The end result is an area of the state that is relatively green. While not exactly lush, neither is it all barren. The mountains often have trees and the lowlands tend to be grasslands rather than desert..
All in all a very nice part of the state.
