Boston 75,059 (32.41%).
San Francisco 70,633 29.8%

Boston has more black male college graduates than Memphis or Hampton Roads. It the only Metro here where black males have equivalent degrees to black women

Boston 36,148
Hampton Roads 33,409
Memphis 27,091

It also has a higher median family income than all of these places, save for DC. Not adjusted for inflation of course.

It's somewhat large in the raw # of black professionals. Especially men.

Combining Raleigh and Durham MSAs is... a choice..Raleigh itself is 53,927

If we're gonna Combine Raleigh and Durham than San Jose and San Fran need to be combined. And Boston and Worcester (I won't even include Providence).

Adding San Jose to San Fran pushes it from 70,633 to ~83,5000. Adding Worcester to Boston pushes it from 75,059 to ~86,000. Worcester MA is 10,821 (37.38%)

Providence while is more culturally/recreationally tied to Boston's black population- Is not as relevant to the professional black population and transplant/transient population. With a weak economy and only 23.4% having degrees (11,273). Boston's economy generally is tied much more to in-state Worcester than Providence's. The high-paying job veer northwest/west not south/southwest.
Raleigh and Durham being separate MSAs is basically a fluke. The city of Raleigh extends into Durham County and the city of Durham extends into Wake County (of which Raleigh is the county seat), but the presence of RTP is what makes them separate MSAs under the current criteria but it really functions as a singular MSA for all intents and purposes.

The raw numbers can be deceiving looking at Oakland and Atlanta as an example. I wouldn't think Oakland had more Black college degree holders aged 25-34 per capita compared to Atlanta looking at raw numbers, but it does surprisingly. I'm sure some other cities left off your list would be surprising too like Boston and Miami which both have small city limits.

Brooklyn - 45,873 (70.82 sq mi)
Chicago - 34,462 (227.73 sq mi)
Philadelphia - 29,045 (134.36 sq mi)
Los Angeles - 21,344 (469.49 sq mi)
Manhattan - 21,527 (22.83 sq mi)
Washington D.C. - 20,760 (61.05 sq mi)
Atlanta - 17,439 (135.32 sq mi)
Houston - 17,135 (640.44 sq mi)
Charlotte - 12,341 (310.02 sq mi)
Dallas - 7,976 (339.604 sq mi)
Oakland - 7,537 (55.93 sq mi)
Detroit - 7,158 (138.73 sq mi)

1. Manhattan = 942.93 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
2. Brooklyn = 647.74 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
3. Washington D.C. = 340.05 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
4. Philadelphia = 216.17 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
5. Chicago = 151.33 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
6. Oakland = 134.76 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
7. Atlanta = 128.87 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.

8. Detroit = 51.60 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
9. Los Angeles = 45.46 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
10. Charlotte = 39.81 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
11. Houston = 26.75 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.
12. Dallas = 23.49 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per sq. mile.

Yes, Id still likes to know where to view Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34. Boston is almost certainly # 5 or 6 for that demographic having college degrees per square mile.

Boston has 29,760 Black college grads compared to Oakland at 26,737. The math indicates we could reasonably assume that there are 8,389 Black College degree holders in Boston aged 25-34. Putting it ahead of Detroit, Oakland, and Dallas.

Boston should then have 173.32 Black College Degree Holders aged 25-34 per square mile. 5th behind Manhattan, Brooklyn, DC, and Philadelphia.

I'd also like to know where to find this information for Baltimore's sake.

It’s pretty small but would love to see how a community like Missouri City or some of the Richmond Zip Codes do in Fort Bend County. I also wouldn’t be surprised if some Dallas suburbs like Grand Prairie, Plano and Frisco, had more than Dallas.

I can't find the numbers from any year more recent than 2010, and the numbers seem to disagree with the ones shared above because I'm only seeing 32,122 "black alone or in combo" degree holders in Chicago aged 25 to 34 compared with the 51k shown above.

But based on *these* numbers...
Chicago has 32,122 out of 117,896 black 25 to 34s. Or 26%
Baltimore has 10,576 out of 52,355 black 25 to 34s. Or 20%
Boston has 7,183 out of 23,800 black 25 to 34s. Or 30%

Numbers are combined male and female, though you could look separately using that table.

Yea I saw 2010 numbers but they dont match with the numbers from Bajan Yankee

In 2010 Oakland was at 5,533 not 7,537. So Boston was well ahead of Oakland then and surely is now.

Oakland/San Francisco Bay still a contender not as
affluent or prosperous like decades ago and the black population declining more then growing same way as La. due too economics, cost of living, and competition.
Vegas Phoenix the new Cali and Seattle too a degree i left longtime ago Oakland was the spot and SF not no
more.

Of course, cost of living comes into play, as might other factors.

COL aside (big aside) Boston has more black households at $200k+ than any of these cities- save for Houston. And in a much smaller land area (just 48 square miles) and smaller black population. 4x as many as Charlotte...

After SF (17.1%) NYC (10.4%) and Boston (10.7%) have the highest concentrations of Black households making 150k plus (aside from DC I'm sure). This makes sense as these are the two metros with the wealthiest black median household income after DC. One big reason for that is affluent black people in NYC but in Boston especially prefer to live in the city, not the suburbs.

Also worth noting that the tax on your income in NYC is significantly higher than in Boston (Mass. has a flat income tax, NY State has a progressive tax. Boston has no wage tax, NYC does) so take home income is much higher. On top of that Cost of living is 10% higher in NYC than Boston

I kind of ignore SF because there's only 18,000 black households in the city. Lotta folks making over 150k but only 13% in between 75-150k. This is an obvious indicator that the middle class isn't very robust. But I guess you need at least 200k to be middle class in SF anyway.... COL is 59.1% higher than Boston.
