Place in US with weather like So-Cal that isn't So-Cal?
The joke is that there is no place in the US with weather like Southern California that isn't Southern California. You know what the closest places are in terms of comparison: The Central Coast to the north, parts of Northern California and Baja Mexico just to the south--so basically the areas that are adjacent to Southern California.
People want to imagine that you can find a place that's cheaper with the exact same climate as parts of the California Coast somewhere else in the States. Sorry, it doesn't exist--but you can get the same climate and live much cheaper just south of the border(although then you're dealing with a whole different can of worms)--that's the closest you'll get.
As one poster said, such weather is only found within close proximity to the coast. Even in the LA CSA, there is a wide-range of temperatures in the summer.
For example:
Santa Monica (coast): 73 degrees
Los Angeles downtown (10 miles inland) : 83 degrees
Pomona (25 miles inland): 93 degrees
Fontana (40 miles inland): 98 degrees
Banning (60 miles inland): 105 degrees
The "Southern California" (Mediterranean) climate is really only 10-15 miles from the coast. At least half of the LA MSA isn't even within this climate.
If such a place DID exist, it would be very desirable, and therefore, very expensive.
I've thought of this as well, when I get fed up with some with bad winters... where could I move to on the East Coast that would have moderate winters but non-humid summers? No where. Humidity can get out of control, no matter how far north you go. Same for the hot temperature.
