Not really. Summers in the NW are quite dry, and even in the rainy season you never feel the oppressive humidity that's common in the South.
And we do have mosquitoes, but not as many as I remember from other states. A few years ago I talked with someone who moved to Oregon from Louisiana. She thought they would need an exterminator to clear the bugs out before they moved in, but her husband told her to sit in the yard for ten minutes. She was skeptical, but ten minutes later she exclaimed, "There are no bugs here!"
That's an exaggeration, but it tells you how different the Northwest is.
