I always get a kick of how seemingly well known Chicago's gourmet popcorn is outside of Chicago. I'm in Atalanta and a young lady told me, "You all make the best popcorn!" I could have kissed her at that moment. She had a certain lust in her eyes. Another young lady told me that she was going to Chicago; and she couldn't wait to get some gourmet popcorn.

How well known is Garrett's outside of Chicago? Would you say that Chicago is known for popcorn?

You eat the Liberty Bell? Or are you saying Philly is known for its crack?

Glaciers.

It's one of the largest (in area) cities in the world (3,200 sq. miles) and within that city/borough is a 1,500 mile ice field which spawns more than 30 glaciers.

Ooops - missed the word "food" in the title

Philly is obviously known for cheesesteaks. Other local delicacies that are invented or are otherwise popular here include scrapple, hoagies, soft pretzels, Herr's potato chips, Tasty-Kakes, and Peanut Chews. And the Italian food is fantastic.

I'll add roast pork and water ice. Pork roll is from across the river.

I thought this thread was more about what specialty foods were unique to a particlar city. I'm sure the Vietnamese food in San Francisco is great, but there are a few cities in North America that have good Vietnamese food. I thought the thread was more a survey of foods that are unique to a particular city.

For example: Philadelphia (cheese steaks), Chicago (Chicago Beef, Deep-dish pizza), St. Louis (St. Louis-style BBQ, as opposed to Memphis-style), etc.
