Yeah, it's been done a lot, but it is always interesting to see the submissions. Ours is one of the great food cultures of the world. The Bay Area is known for originating, popularizing or producing distinct styles of:

Cioppino
Sourdough bread
Wine
Dungeness crab
Tri-tip roast
Steam and IPA beer
Irish coffee
Martinis
Asian influences
Garlic fries
California Cuisine
Chocolate
Fernet-Branca
...and of course, Rice-a-Roni

Yes! Oysters are, of course, big in the Bay Area too, but they play a close second to Washington oysters, in my opinion.

Unrelated: SF also gave the US the Mission-style burrito, which is essentially the kind Chipotle makes (rather badly, in comparison to the real thing).
