If I leave Dulles by car at noon will I have a decent ride to the Bridgeport area?

Normally I can do it no traffic in five hours. Last time I left at two and it was awful, nearly took seven.

I am desiring it to be reduced stress and felt noon would be fine to get in by six. If not I guess I'd have to leave at night (6:45 PM ok) or 9 am Sat but if I can do it Fri afternoon it would be best.

On the Friday before Memorial Day weekend? I sure as heck wouldn't leave at that hour as many will have the same idea as you reach Delaware and NJ which have beach destination points many will be headed toward. You would probably do a lot better Saturday morning or Friday night, though if you could manage to get out at 10am Friday that'd be ideal.

Wow...so noon is too late?

What about Saturday morning? Would 9-10 AM be ok or too late?

Well, you're going north, not south or east (well you're kind of going east but not coastal east). In New Jersey, at least, you shouldn't hit beach traffic because you will be going the opposite direction. You may hit PA traffic briefly as people head into NJ from PA to go to the beaches, but that's only as you pass through PA I'd assume. Once you get into NJ, you will be going north while everyone else will be going south. In CT you will hit traffic because it's CT. There is always traffic that state is a nightmare.

Which road are you taking through NJ? Turnpike?

I would take I-95 to NJTP than either GWB or Tapp to Merrit.
Leaving at noon on Friday, would a 310 mile drive be possible relatively stress free in under 6 hours or am I looking at Thanksgiving like traffic?

That's assuming that no one in the greater Philadelphia area or SW Jersey is not going anywhere other than the Atlantic City or Cape May areas. Asbury Park, Ocean, Belmar and Spring Lake are big draws as well.

True, and I did consider this, but still, you will hit the most NJ traffic going south.

So should I leave at noon and get there around six (310 miles) or will it be well longer?
Should I do the PA route?
