I live in the NYC metro area and looking to relocate for cheaper COL and less hectic living. My main focus right now is ATL, and it seems like a good fit, but I wanna have more options to choose from plus it slightly bothers me that ATL is in the deep south and could be a big adjustment. I'm looking for diverse, cheaper cities, metros 2 million+ that are on the come up with decent economy and 4 seasons. I like a good nightlife, in particular hip hop clubs and events. Cities in the Midwest come to mind, but I am not too sure where to look.

Houston, Dallas, Las Vegas, and Atlanta fit best for cheap and diversity.

If you want to spend more, Chicago may work.

Yea, Chicago is cool, but might be too big, and their property taxes are outta control.

If cheap and diversity is really what you want, I would go with one of the first four I mentioned. If the two main requirements are cheap and very diverse, it doesnt get any better than Houston, Dallas, Vegas, and Atlanta.

Columbus OH may be very close to what you are looking for. Maybe Minneapolis as well.

I wouldnt call St. Louis diverse, but you can get it pretty cheap.

Minneapolis/St. Paul is a lot more diverse than St. Louis. None are as diverse as the ones I mentioned or Chicago, but Minneapolis doesnt exactly lag in that department either.

Well, lets clarify. What kind of diversity are you specifically after? Many people say they are looking for diversity but its a pretty broad term. Are you looking for ethnic diversity, racial diversity, or simply an area where you would never feel out of place?

Im a big stats nerd, so I spend my free time looking at a lot of these numbers.
