My bf and I are considering moving to Denver in a few months. It will be a two year assignment for him, if we go. There are a few scenarios that I’m hoping someone can help me with!
If I don’t work while I’m there, what type of visa do I need to live there?
If I do decide to work part time, what type of visa do I need? Would it be better to just apply for a visa that will let me work part time even if I decide not to, so I have the option?
What would the tax implications be? I know he will have to file a tax return for both Canada and US the first year we are there, because the first month he’ll be paid in Canada. Is there really double taxing going on?
My last question, what happens if we decide to have children in the US, since I’m not working, it’d be a perfect time to start. How does the healthcare work there? How do you find a good doctor, dentist, etc. And once I do…do you have to pay a doctor each time you see them? (we don’t pay them here, so I don’t know how it works)
Sorry for all the questions! It’s a big decision for me to move!!
