So, long story short, I currently reside in the greater Seattle area, but am planning on moving down to the LA area in the not too terribly distant future. My tentative plan atm is to stay up in Seattle until either towards the end of this year or early next. Regardless of time of year, I was planning on taking US-101 down to the LA area when I do move - Other than the beautiful scenery along 101, I'd like to stop in the Bay Area on my way down, and am hoping to avoid higher elevations/mountain passes, like those on I-5 in northern CA (Not to mention, I-5 is a bit of a boring drive down IMHO).
Just trying to find out from others is there are any areas where I may encounter possible snow during the winter months that I should be cautious of? It's my understanding that I have a much lower chance of dealing with it on 101 than I-5, but am just trying to be prepared is all. Thanks in advance for any help!
I have driven down 101 from Astoria to Eureka in February and there wasn't any weather concerns or snow. Snow might be possible, you might just need to plan ahead and leave when its right
You might get some wind or storms along more exposed coastal sections in the winter time. There's some crazy storms along the Oregon Coast occasionally. Though no snow. Inland through California up in Humboldt and Mendocino counties theres a few hillier areas though shouldn't be snow down there either...
No snow, but you might want to check for mud/land slides along some parts of 101 in and south of Humboldt County, CA. Seems like they can close 101 often for a slide around that area.

Also, around Big Sur.
