I used to keep tabs on Austin since I moved from the area in late '92. It's amazing that it took that long for the city to grow to where it is now, although after having visited the city since then, I still prefer the way it was before it grew (I think it lost some of its character).
I had contemplated moving to Denver awhile back. I had many friends move to the metro over the years, but I'm surprised that not many stayed there.
Once place that I continue to keep tabs on is Honolulu. I could totally see myself living there for at least a short while. I've visited quite a few times and I do understand the difference between living and visiting somewhere. I also know how expensive it is to live there. So in a way, it is my forbidden destination, but it hasn't stopped me from keeping tabs on it. One can dream...

I've been to Maui and the Big Island in the last year. I could easily settle in Hawaii and leave the world behind. My imagination and Hawaii keep tugging at my heart strings, I'm smitten for those islands!

Detroit, New Orleans, Buffalo, Kansas City, Omaha, San Antonio, Cleveland, Baltimore, Providence, Columbia-South Carolina, Little Rock, Jacksonville, Madison-Wisconsin, Charlotte, Portland-Maine, Milwaukee, and Memphis. Now that is a random list!
Pittsburgh, St. Louis, and Detroit. I'm obsessed with their great architecture and very cool city neighborhoods (at least in Pittsburgh and St. Louis)- finally visited St. Louis and Pittsburgh a couple of weeks ago and now I'm even more taken and interested in them- fantasizing what selling our little, ridiculously valued house here would get us in either city...
San Diego. I already want to move back just because I enjoyed living there, not because of anything in particular like development or a transit project. But I do like to keep an eye on progress or changes there.
The transportation system in San Diego is getting better and better. I wish I was still living there because life just seemed to be a bit easier. The new library is coming along well too. Another city I think would be nice would be Tacoma, but they have so many issues that most areas aren't safe.
