All of those tiny little states on the east coast are pretty much not in my line of thinking most of the time. Generally, I remember Maryland because I have a friend that lives there, but Rhode Island, Connecticut and so on I forget about. I also forget about Nebraska and some of the other Midwest States...

I'm sorry to not see Texas on someone's list. I truly wish it was not so much in the news.

I don't really forget about any state. There's some I have to give thought before trying to spell like Connecticut and some I have trouble pronouncing like Massachusetts but each state lends something significant to the "melting pot" that makes the U.S. "America."

Honestly, I think Kentucky is forgotten about much more than other Southern states. North Carolina, Virginia and Georgia get good press, Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana get bad press, but at least they get recognition. Kentucky gets minimal, unless it's for the Derby or the occasional life expectancy story, but it's pretty well ignored.

How can you forget about the Southern States. Its like they are always on the news for something, unlike Vermont, Montana etc.

Try drawing a Map of the States without a looking at the Internet or a map. I did that and got all the States except for Connecticut. So that would be mine I guess, I've never been there, don't know anybody from there and I just plan don't know much about the place.

(The borders of some States got all wrong and squishy because I drew the outline of the country first, and then I was trying to fit everything in after.)
