To be fair,
usually nice and affluent are one in the same, at least in my experience, whether we're talking about blacks or any other group. Not that its right, but that's how many people see "nice".

There are middle class African American areas all around the L.A. area that are beautiful. (It will be in pockets)

Nice neighborhoods and not so nice neighborhoods run right into each other in L.A. (to some degree)

Some areas in L.A. have historical / racial lines of separation that were supposed to be divided by freeways, but over time they have been eliminated. (also to some degree)

L.A. might have some problems (overblown IMO), but it is way better now than back in the 80s and 90s. L.A. is one of my favorite cities in the U.S., if not my favorite over all. (minus the smog)

Some middle class areas with a large amount of African Americans or a significant number in L.A. are:

(Bixby Knolls) Long Beach

(California Heights) Long Beach

Parts of Carson (near south bay pavilion)

Parts of Culver City (near Ladera Heights)

I'm missing quite a few here, but these are areas I have either lived in or familiar with.

You really have to just drive all around L.A. in the south land / south bay etc., as there are numerous nice middle class areas with African Americans in it. L.A. is so HUGE it is very difficult to put into context.

Well, I disagree with you on that and believe that the majority of people know the difference between the two.

well,
maybe its coming from California that has me thinking that way, but over here, a "nice" area usually means a lot of money.

And, as I mentioned earlier in the thread seemingly to oblivion, Missouri City, TX and Miramar, FL. Exactly what the OP is looking for, MIDDLE CLASS.

It has become in the past five years. Used to be White plurality, but barley even then. And it's true that Miramar isn't black "majority" either but they are the largest ethnic group.

Chicago, IL 2,439
Washington, DC 1,850

NY and Chicago are much larger than D.C. yet D.C. is very close to Chicago in numbers. So PER CAPITA, D.C. is definately #1 as far as earning over $200,000.
