I think Miami could make sense if it wasn't for the weather. It's not so much the chance of a huge hurricane, but the daily rain at that time of year. It's a gateway to Latin America, loved by Europeans, good logistics, etc. San Fran / La seem to make sense too. But you never know, it could be an under the radar city you'd never guess, i.e. atlanta.
Dallas Fort Worth, It could easily use Atlanta blueprint and win.
Dallas also have:
Both Lovefield and DFW International airport
Huge supply of lodging
Alot of fortune 500 companies Headquarter there and would have great corporate support.
Absolutely Chicago. There are already many viable plans for security, building stadiums, and more extensive transportation (which is already pretty good compared to most American cities). And the Southside could really use it.
St. Louis has much potential for what it can be in 2024 for the Olympics. It would even happen 120 years from when it hosted the 1904 World's Fair...pretty cool! Boating events could take place at enormous Lake Carlyle in Illinois which is already used primarily for sailing--it's an hour from downtown. They are sure to find some room for an arena in the outside of the city.
There are miles of biking trails/lanes, too. It is even in the process of building two new roadway bridges across the Mississippi (downtown and on the North side). There is also plenty of "Americana" with the Arch, Lewis and Clark, steamboat history, and Forest Park.
The 1996 Olympics were loaded with problems, so I don't see them taking another chance on a mid-level US city. If the Summer Games happen again in the US, it will be New York, Los Angeles, Chicago or maybe the SF Bay Area.
i dont know about you, but i think san diego is the perfect destination for the winter olympics. i mean, come on, we're home to shaun white
oh i know this is about the summer olympics, but i felt like poking fun at all the damn homers who are popping a boner over thinking st. louis, detroit, portland, seattle, denver, dallas, phoenix, etc. have a chance. no offense.
i personally would love to see seattle host it, but its infrastructure would be an olympic nightmare.

I vote Detroit. What else are they going to do with those huge swaths of unused land where houses used to be? It could really be a way to help rebuild that city. Plus, it's not any less safe than than Beijing, or Rio de Janeiro.

This is why everyone loves Californians .
I would like to see Detroit get them but, they just don't have the money and it would take A LOT of money to get Detroit cleaned up. With that being said, I think Chicago would be a great choice.
