Hi everyone! Hubs and i recently explored Knoxville, Tn and fell in love with the city's Market Square. It was a cute strip (a maintained cement block with little shops and restaurants around) and it came to life in the afternoon/night. TONS of families, many kids, and street performers here and there trying to earn a buck.

The problem is we want out of NoVA for land, so we aren't looking to move to Knoxville city.

My question is, where can I find this much family friendly activity in another town/city? Suggestioms ANYWHERE (any state) would be appreciated!

Additionally, other important factors are areas outside of the bible belt, outside of tornado ally, nowhere too cold. We would like to be near tolerant people (basically believe and do whatever you want. Just don't judge or hurt others). Availability to local/natural/organic foods is also important until we can get our own garden set up.

Thank you all!

ETA: preferably no beachtowns as we don't want to be on the coast (i know, we're getting very picky--i'm beggining to think whatwe wantdoesn't exist)

Except for being cold in the winter, Ithaca NY would fit. Burlington VT, Ann Arbor MI and maybe Asheville NC too.

Dallas is smack dab in the middle of the Bible Belt & Tornado Alley.

Austin & San Antonio fit the OP's criteria much better.

Sounds like an Oxymoron. "Family friendly" means "stay home at night".
