Having lived in Texas for all my life I can say that I really hope it never becomes its own country for fear that our laws will represent an overly conservative agenda. Even though I love the culture and attitude of the state, I dont trust the majority of its citizens to make the decisions I will have to live by.

To be honest i could see Texas becoming more like Italy (or whatever the area was called) back in biblical times where each city was its own city state. All of the major cities have such different attitudes and cultures that this would be better .

My fear is that homosexuality, heresy, etc. would be punished by death (see Iran) in order to please the phony-Christians. Maybe Adultery would become illegal too, but I wouldn't expect that because nobody would legislate against their own vices.

That would probably affect the U.S. dollar somehow...

If they kept the U.S. dollar as official currency it would probably de-value it more, which is already worth less than our colourful Canadian "play-money."

They'd probably want their own currency. Assuming they have continued prosperity from oil-and-gas it would probably fare well.

I'm sure if DumbYa Bush had his way thats exactly what would happen in the US, and also and Texas if Perry got his way.

Well read your history buddy, Texas fought at the Alamo to win independance from Mexico. No it wasnt a waste of time, seeing as The US had nothing to do with it.

If they want to, sure. Same for any state.

As dumb as the question is (because no state will ever leave the union again) Of course not. Texas is apart of the US just like all other states. Some aruge no because of the conservitive agenda. Hello look around Texas is a red state dont like it then get the hell out. The other day i heard one of my ignorant friends say republicans denounce everything they want. That is plain old stupid. Some of our parents raised us to have respect and values. Not all morality is lost in this country YET.

So long as it means their electoral college votes don't get counted, I'm all for it.
