I need to depart Chicago on next Saturday (9/28) to be in Columbia, SC by 8:00 pm.

Then, I need to be back in Chicago no later than 8:00 pm on Monday (9/30).

There is a catch: On Monday 9/30 I'll be bringing my mom from Columbia, SC back up to Chicago with me.

What is the cheapest way to do this??

Do you have a car? The cheapest way would be to drive. It'll be a pain, but there's no easy or cheap way to do what you're proposing.

No, I was thinking of renting one to drive down, then bidding on airfare for us to fly back together....
