I am desperately seeking a place to raise my children (ages 9 and 15) where there are still morals, good schools and a lack of constant materialism.

Does this place exist? Also, I would like to be able to buy a nice home that doesn't cost $1 Million that has at least a small yard.

Thanks for any help you all can provide.

P.S. work is not necessarily an issue since I have a home business.

Or the Interior Northeast. You could probably find what you are looking for in any region, but it is a matter of what you are looking for.

Upstate NY has several nice towns (Ithaca, Cooperstown, Cortland, Plattsburgh, etc).

You can find that in about any state in the country as long as you do your research and have enough money to get in a good school district. You'll have to give us some more specific on what you would realistically consider- region, climate, etc.

You can find a multitude of pleasant, safe places with small town cohesion and with good schools in this country. Any where in New England or upper NY state for example.

However, what you have to realize is that garbage, sleaze, etc. is still going to be flooding into your children's lives. It's going to come in on the TV, on the computer, on their smart phones. Block what you like in your house, but then they'll just pick it up from their friends or from their friends' homes.

You can't keep your children locked away from the world. Thus, anywhere you live, it's going to be a constant battle between your beliefs and the ideas, morality ( or lack thereof) of others. The wider world is out there and your kids are going to know about it.

There are many areas that fulfill that criteria. The northern areas of Maine/New Hampshire/Vermont, Upstate NY, rural areas in Ohio/Indiana/Illinois, much of Minnesota/Wisconsin/Iowa/Oklahoma/Kansas/Nebraska/North Dakota/South Dakota, and most of Montana and Wyoming. From my own experiences I can say parts of Indiana would fulfill your criteria well. Check out the areas around Washington and Jasper in SE Indiana.

If you don't mind snow, the area of Syracuse NY is one of the most unlikely places for natural disasters to strike. That's a big item with me. There are several areas nearby there with good schools and safe neighborhoods. Just stay out of the Southern states, imho.
