I do. My company used to send me there on business back in the 70's. It's a nice little city as I recall. I knew I was in MO.
Yeah I really love it. I'm also a transplant.
There are people who are there and do not know which state they are in or which state they've been visiting regularly....when they go shopping or dining in fancy restaurants.. Can you imagine?
But to be fair, five were foreigners from the Netherlands, Norway and Germany who were visiting for a few days on a business trip (pardonable), one was a Taiwanese citizen living in Leavenworth KS for a year from Taiwan (not that pardonable as reflects the lack of basic human intellectual curiosity at the lowest level to me, to not want to know about the place you call home for a relatively extended period), and another was an "American" from Hawaii who was naturalized at 13 from the Phillipines and was living in the continental US for the first time in his life and had been in Leavenworth for a year (NOT pardonable).
I feel that if you don't have the most basic fundamental human instinct to know what state you are in when you have lived in a metro for a year, you might want to reconsider yourself as an American.

Isn't the "good" Kansas City in MO and the "bad" in KS?
I had the pleasure to finally visit Kansas City on my cross country trip this summer and enjoyed some awesome BBQ, the fountains, architecture and visit to the WWI museum and memorial. It's a real nice city.

Its not just about the good vs the bad though that's true as well.
Anything that even comes up the radar about what Kansas City is in the minds of anybody out there who ever lived is Kansas City, Missouri. Anything that Kansas City is associated with in the mind of the person thinking it is KC, Missouri.
Kansas City in KS is not much more than a small industrial crime-ridden town. It's not even the size of the KS city (Overland Park) that's more aptly described as a suburb.
Saying that Kansas City is in Kansas is like saying Philadelphia is in Jersey or St Louis is in Illinois or Memphis is in Arkansas or Cincinnati is in Kentucky.
Sure, there is a Kansas City in Kansas, but locals NEVER use the name Kansas City for that city without following it with Kansas or simply saying "KCK".
In the KC area, Kansas City, Missouri is simply called Kansas City or KC, while KCK is always well, KC"K". And KCK is only the city of KCK which only has like 150k people. It's not even 1/4 of the Kansas side population.
KCK is an industrial/blue collar suburb of KCMO. Nothing more. It's not even a very urban city and has almost nothing in common with KCMO. As mentioned, there are other Kansas side suburbs that are nearly as large or larger than KCK.
But as far as the original question. Pretty much nobody knows this. Even people that have visited the or have been there once or twice don't understand KC's geography. East and west coast people don't have a clue about Chicago. They are utterly clueless about KC and have no idea what it's like at all. I find it entertaining now.
