Agree, that is a long drive

I generally dont like to drive to places (especially cities) over 4 hours. I do and will drive to the outer banks but at about 7 hours the flight options are logistically difficult and take nearly as long as driving - plus need to bring a car full of stuff making flying there impractical. I can drive to Chocago in this time, but fly - its 1:25 minutes by air. Great weekend destination

within 600 miles i prefer to drive, for everything else i take the plane.

Atlanta.. Montgomery or Birmingham probably but never been there, maybe Raleigh, never checked.

Someone probably already did Phoenix... But you can go far. It took me roughly a twelve hour drive to Lake Tahoe. I know in twelve hours you could MAYBE get as far east as Lubbock. Colorado Springs might be reachable, it took me eighteen hours to get there through snow so without snow maybe possible. Easy drive to SLC too.

Note: I live in Tucson but from here pretty much add one hour on top of Phoenix for the most places.
