In south Texas:
Cuero Gobblers (well-known turkey-hunting area) I've been to one of their games
Progreso Red Ants (nobody messes with red ants)
Also in Texas, the Hutto Hippos. The name Eagles is used by 151 Texas high schools. I'm very disappointed that the school in my town does not call themselves the Victoria Secrets.

l've heard that the Centralia, Illinois, high school team is called the Orphans, and for girls sports, they are called the Annies.

There was a whole documentary TV series made about Nimrod Nation, the people of Watersmeet, Michigan, whose school mascot is the Nimrods. Entire series is on YouTube.

In Wisconsin, there are the Mellen Granite Diggers.

There was a Georgia Catholic girls school who called themselves the Holy Terrors, but I can't remember the name of the school.

In her Louisiana high school days, Britney Spears was a Kentwood Kangaroo.

The Savannah Christian Prep School mascot is the Raiders, which isn't all that unusual. But their logo is a SKULL AND CROSSBONES! For a CHRISTIAN school?!?!

Onalaska (Wa.) "Loggers."

They even have a "Logger Bob" costume that some poor kid gets roped into dressing up in for the football games and who dances around with the cheerleaders.
