I just took a test in a book called The everything career tests book. it was called the location test. i had to choos we eight characteristcs from a long list that I would want in a city. it was very eye opening because i realized that my top four requirments are what i like about cities. my top four requirments are,

1. Multicultural population

2. Good Public Transportation

3. Cultural Amenities

4. Shopping

What i want to know is what cities in the U.S have these four characteristics ?

Depends on how you define multicultural and good public transportation. Any city has the other 3 pretty easily. Multicultural and diversity really aren't the same things. You can have diversity without multiculturalism.

I would say a lot of the larger cities have 1, 3, and 4. As for which have all 4, I would say NYC, DC, Chicago, and San Francisco.

^ This, with maybe Boston and Philadelphia(at least within the cities and some first ring suburbs).

Plenty of cities outside of those 3 have decent shopping. Shopping is one of the easiest things to put in a city. Public transportation, a much bigger hill to climb.

The city of Cleveland has the first three in the city, though you'd have to go to the suburbs for the 4th. But the more notable would be other cities already listed...

The ones that come to mind are San Francisco, Chicago, Boston, New York City, Atlanta (city only, not metro area), Seattle

ill explain a little more.
by multicultural community i mean a city where there are many ethnic groups around and not just one enthnicity.

by good public transit I mean the city has to have a transit system where its possible to live without a car

cultral amenities are a big catagory but what it means to me is a city with museums, libraries and a good performing arts scene. Also there has to be alot of resturants.

shopping means that i want to live in a city with lots of places to buy things but it doesent have to be a shopping meca

Chicago is what i belive to be the city to fit all these things but i just wanted to get a second opinon from this site.
