Are you sure this came from the Huffington Post and not the AARP? I think my parents would want to visit the places on this list.
All of these cities are generally, more or less, stereotyped to be home to laid-back residents, folk art, and underrated cultural amenities, which I'm not sure that's what most young people want.
Especially with picks like Bisbee, Savannah,Burlington and Eureka, I wonder if the writer of this article is a fifty-something projecting his or her own interests on America's youth.
It's harder to do long term traveling after that age usually, up until you are retirement age more or less. I'm not talking about a week vacation, I'm talking about traveling for months at a time
My 20s was when I was least able to take a vacation. I took new jobs every two or three years, and never had more than two weeks' vacation in any given year. And since I was starting out in my career, I didn't have a lot of money. Taking an entire week off in one shot was a rare luxury indeed.
Yeah, kinda a hippie list. For more of the 'scene' or partying and seeing cool places, nyc, miami, sf, la, Chicago Boston, vegas. Nashville is well, an acquired taste.
Something that strikes me is that many of these cities are suggested because of their similarities. If I were traveling in my twenties, I would want variety. I also would not want to visit stereotype after stereotype. I would be looking up places of interest rather than places of popularity. I am not a lemming.

Honestly what do Burlington, Anchorage, Honolulu, Omaha, and New Orleans have in common? If that isn't variety at least within the US, then I don't know what is.
I said some of them. Certainly not all of them. Portland and Eugene are similar. Seattle is as well. Yes there are differences of course but more similarities.
My point is that if I were to choose twenty cities I would much prefer to make my own list. It's as simple as that. I would recommend some of the cities on the list to people I know would like them but not all. I am just not a one size fits all person. I don't think that just because people are all the same age they are going to like the same things.

Fair enough, that's why I posted a thread thinking I may get some responses listing cities based on their own preferences or experiences when they travelled in their 20's. HP's list just got me thinking because they left out usual suspects list Boston/NYC/SF and listed ones below the radar like Anchorage and KC.
