The first three cities, in order, that popped into my head when I saw this thread (assumed it was cities before I opened it) were Austin (not a bad city per say but hilariously built up to a bizarre mythical level...), Seattle (the promised land on here!!! lol...) and Pittsburgh (an oddball that is overrated on here yet massively underrated in real life). Individual states would be Texas, California and New York (not in order), the East Coast/Bos/Wash corridor as well (different than just the Northeast). The South gets crapped on a lot here so despite its massive amount of cheerleaders (or defenders depending on the thread) and its inclusion of Texas and Florida I find it pretty hard to see it as number one on here... Areas/individual cities def. possible, but the region as a whole also includes some severely underrated cities...
