It's worth pointing out that not all domestic migration is by choice from the perspective of the individual. Sometimes you have to go along if your employer decides to relocate, or reassign you to a different territory, branch or whatever. In today's market that can't be all that unusual.

You shouldn't feel slighted. Speaking for myself, I'd probably rather live in any of the top three "worst" cities than anywhere else. I say "probably" because I have no direct personal experience with NYC, but I live in L.A. and have been to Chicago many times. But if it makes you feel any better, I've noticed the anti-urban sentiments of many on this board is practically Jeffersonian at times.

Beverly Hills is much more tourist trap-ish than Manhattan. Rodeo Drive and the general downtown area is pretty much for tourists.

Manhattan also gets tons of tourists (hell probably far, far more than anywhere in California) but the difference is that there are vast numbers of locals there too, even in places like Times Square.

Not really. Beverly Hills is heavily tourist-oriented. Most locals try and stay away from the Rodeo Drive area. The truly wealthy/celebrities don't go to these stores; the stores either come directly to them, or they visit during off-hours (Barneys NY location on Wilshire does this all the time, closing the store and then a celebrity and their associates have the run of the store).

Downtown LA is not really in the conversation, as it isn't a major tourist center. It's mostly locals.

I'm not saying Houston is ugly, but we have such different tastes I seriously thought you were trolling with those pics... Still wondering actually...

Thats was the the first thing I noticed when I came to Houston. I was amazed just how well kept it was. Here in Houston they STRICTLY enforce loitering laws which I actually agree with.

In most nothern cities they don't really care and I was amazed on how friendly people are down here. There not angels but there waaay more friendlier then up north especially in New York.

New York people are just downright nasty. There's a fine line between being tough and just being negative and miserable and thats the vibe I get from New Yorkers. They all just seem negative and miserable.

Some people do not like the truth but honestly New York city is a dump. I think its embarrassing that a city of that importance is kept that way. Trash on the street, trash on the sidewalks, trash everywhere but a trash can.
Wait did everyone really not catch that this poster called New Jersey a city? And everyone's taking this person seriously?
