I always get a kick out of Checkerboard and Twodot, MT. There's also Wisdom, MT. I used to live a few towns over from Rudolph, OH.

So when driving from the East to the West you will need to go through Intercourse, PA way before you arrive in Climax, MI. However, before you make that trip you should visit Protection, KS first.

Anybody know otherwise?
I do not think anybody knows as there are so many interpretations. The most common belief is that it means "bubbling water" and "boiling water". Those two, much better describe the Kalamazoo River than "mirror smooth".

Some of my favorites in Oklahoma:

Atoka (named after a Choctaw leader)
Bokchito (Choctaw for "big river")
Bokoshe (Choctaw for "little river")
Hochatown (thought to be named after a Choctaw person)
Talihina (Choctaw for "iron road")

Well in Pennsylvania it takes about 15 minutes to get from Blue Ball to Intercourse. To get from there to Paradise it takes 24 minutes if you can find the Gap. But only 15 minutes via Bird in Hand. It could take close to an hour if you go through Brownstown.
