In NY, you have Native American influenced names like Lackawanna, Canandaigua, Skaneateles, Onondaga, Mohawk, Tonawanda, North Tonawanda, Oneonta, Oneida, Chittenango, Cohoes, Canastota, Ticonderoga, Saratoga, Cayuga, Seneca Falls, Niagara Falls and Saranac, among others.

There are former/current Erie Canal themed communities with a port reference like Lockport, Spencerport, Brockport, Fairport, Port Byron and Weedsport.

There are foreign country referenced communities like Peru, Mexico, Greece, Angola, Panama, Poland, Russia, Sweden, Norway and Jordan.

There Greek classical/Mediterranean named communities like Camillus, Marcellus, Hannibal, Utica, Ithaca, Ulysses, Carthage, Rome, Ilion, Homer, Tully, Fabius, Pompey, Marathon, Cincinnatus, Odessa, Montour, Ovid, Romulus, Naples, Macedon, Troy, Cato, etc.

Places that are bigger and major elsewhere: Lansing, Copenhagen, Phoenix, Philadelphia, Delhi, Geneva, Lisbon, Medina and Amsterdam.

Dutch and different: Schenectady, Rensselaer, Cazenovia, Batavia and Schuyler.

Besides various Mayvilles, the only populated place in the US with a name starting with he name of a month is June Lake, California, with 600 residents.

Cities with names the same as major Canadian cities:

I considered that, but there was a classical Augusta before there was a month with that name. There is no place whose name is derived from the name of the month.
