I live in La Quinta, CA. It never fails that when I have to take a call from someone not familiar with the area they almost always pronounce it LA KWINTA.

Another one that's pronounced differently in different areas is Newark.

In NJ it's Newrk or almost Nork.
In DE it's New Ark.

Elbarto150 is on a distinguished road
In NYC, there is a street by the name of Houston, pronounced How-ston.

When at La Guardia, I noticed this was also how they pronounced Houston, my Texas hometown. So for the record,

it's
Hew-ston

not
House-ton

and definitely not
Yew-ston < - - - - - many locals call it this, but im pretty sure English H's are not silent.

I reckon this won't be an issue much longer with the current national ad blitz for the "la KIN-ta" hotel chain.

Decatur, on the other hand, is pretty obvious.

Would someone like to explain to me how this reply garnered me a red dot and a very nasty comment in my reputation area? I know a lot of people on this forum hold a grudge against me, but I see nowhere that this particular reply could be construed as being offensive. Would the individual who gave me that red dot please highlight what parts of this reply you found to be "inappropriate?" Furthermore, would you like to clarify "You have no idea what you're talking about...Ever..." in this reply? I must say I'm becoming discouraged by the reputation system on this forum day after day as more and more folks abuse it.
