^ Actually the only state with an official way to pronounce it is Arkansas

No thats incorrect. Its NevAda, not NevAHHHHduh. I pointed out in an earlier post. The Nevada Department of Tourism has issued license plates with an accent over the a to stress how it should be said.
Don't feel bad, George Bush can't pronounce it correctly either.

This is not about the "correct" as in language of of origin pronunciation of cities and states but about what the LOCALS have come to call them. You can say Neh-vaah-da if you like but the peeps in Nev-add-ah will know you are probably from Ar-kan-sus!!
