I know I know, why would a 16 year old 11th grader in High School need help deciding on where to live? I have no idea, I just always love looking at these forums and ive narrowed it down to a couple of criteria. First off my family and I are moving to the Lehigh Valley of PA and My dad will still be living in NYC(Queens). I want to live close by but maybe not in NYC again because its so expensive. I was thinking of staying in PA but it seems relatively boring I want to live in a city for at least a year. Heres my criteria. It needs to snow(a lot) the summers could be hot but not scorching hot. A couple of days of scorching hot weather wont hurt me (100+) but as long as its not a day to day thing. Ive been thinking Boston but it doesn't receive that much snow and its more expensive than NYC, also thought about Chicago but its so far and I don't know if I can handle it. Maybe I should just go to college in Boston or Chicago to have the experience and then move back to PA. Any other cities that you can recommend that is relatively close? I am also black/Puerto Rican but that doesn't really matter much because I get along with all races. So any suggestions?

How about Pittsburgh? It's a great city and not too far from family. There's plenty to do and they get lots of snow in winter. The cost of living is reasonable and there are several colleges. Best of luck!

If you want to move away from the east, Chicago is a great city. There is a lot to do and it does have a nice change in seasons. There is snow in the winter. Chicago is also cheaper then NY. Look into it, you may really like it.

Pittsburgh seems like a good option since its close to family, but what about the jobs. I also heard that when it snows it only snows like 1 inch it barely gets like 4-5 inches and than the next day itll all melt.

Im either going to be a chemical engineer or something in business. I dont know yet.

Chicago is a beautiful option but it is very far. But im deeply considering it.

Boston is a wonderful city, and a great experience for college students. And the rest of New England is an easy drive if you really want to see lots and lots of snow.

Chicago is a great city but the wind off the lake is soooo cold, much worse than the winter wind off the Atlantic, hard as that is to believe.

Yeah, Boston seems like a perfect idea and so does Pittsburgh. Boston is really expensive though, and it can only get more expensive by the time i move their right?

We moved from the east to the midwest and we love it. I think you would be happy with Chicago, Madison is also a great place to look at.
