My city, Philadelphia is very liberal. It is the 5th most populous city in the US and yet of all the registered voters only 17% are registered Republicans ... and even the GOP here is fairly liberal at least on social issues. Philly scored a perfect score of 100 by the Campaign for Human Rights on LGBT issues - and even scored higher than San Francisco and NYC.

Liberals and socialists are opposite end of the spectrum. Liberal = liberty. Socialism = repression.

Las Vegas is the most liberal city. Most places on the above list are fascist/progressive, not liberal.

Not when socialism means that everyone has access to basic essential services, such as food, water, healthcare, transportation. I believe that's actually more liberating.

Yeah, Denver's quite liberal. A little less "in-your-face" liberal compared to Boulder, but still solid "blue" territory.

Having lived in Portland, Or (visited Seattle ALOT) and visited many of these cities, I think Portland is much more liberal than Seattle, San Fran and other cities on this list. Many Portlanders are anti-corporate and counter culture. The laws in Portland make it difficult for big corporations and most of the businesses are small ones. In fact, Portlanders tend to look down their noses at Seattle and San Francisco as being sellouts / too corporate. San Fran used to be counter culture but is now a very rich, almost more libertarian city full of wealthy silicon valley types. Ditto for Seattle, but not as much as SF.

Portland has trouble keeping its schools open. It's huge majority white. I don't call that liberal.
