Everybody can have different ideas about where to go out for a drink, so I'm going to leave this criteria more open ended. Feel free to rate local dives or a trendy lounge you've experienced on vacation. Cities can run the gamut to from Burlington, VT to LA, Montreal, Key West and in between. Share some of your most fond experiences for a fun, wild, or enchanted nights out be it locally or out of town for a weekend getaway. I'll put out some suggested criteria and feel free to add.

Your favorite cities or cities that have a favorite bar......

Pubs and microbreweries
Trendy lounges
Nightclubs
Wine bars
Gay bars
Hotel or Casino bars
Resort bars
Video bars
Hodown/Country bars
Piano bars
Hook up bars/Meat Markets
Local dive bars
Good conversation bars
Hood & ghetto fabulous bars

even if some or many of these options aren't your scene, name a city that comes to mind anyway.

Whenever I'm in a big city, the drink I most look forward to is in the departure lounge at the airport.

Ive partied everywhere from LA, Vegas, San Francisco, Denver etc...and by far best all around experience is Key West. No I dont remember the bars...yes i hugged the toilet the next day, but what was awesome is how approachable everyone was, and just in a general great mood without any uppity attitudes. Serious bliss.

Vegas is always fun, but drinks are expensive and people sometimes are a little too focused on getting laid later, instead of enjoying the moment now. That can be a buzz kill.

In LA, Ive gotten into crazy shenanigans in West Hollywood, especially during their Halloween Carnival (so much fun!).

I vote Long Beach for most relaxed and down to.earth vibe in the LA area. Great place to have a beer, kick back and catch up with buddies.

Rosarito, Mexico gets my vote for.best under 21 experience. Nothing beats a solid margarita on the beach. It's a shame the area is a hot mess right now. Havent.been since i was 19. Anyone been recently?

Honestly, my own living room is the best place I know to have a drink and visit with friends but we usually have Iced Tea,
not many we know are alcohol drinkers.

There are very few places where, if you have any gumption about yourself and can potentially spot an interesting individual, you will be rewarded with exactly that, and a story or two and life experiences only dreamed about.

It is stocked full of some amazing folks and places to experience. And bars are about the best places to make it happen

i love a well made cocktail and also a dive bar on the other end of the spectrum, so the best places to hit both ends from my experience are NYC, NOLA, Boston, Chicago, LA, SF, DC and Seattle.

Recently I was in a friends wedding in Santa Barbara and we did a bar crawl in Downtown LA for the groom a few nights before his wedding. Hit up a few awesome cocktail places like The Varnish, Seven Grand, Library bar then went looking for a few places a little more low brow.

First Campers Corner right in the middle of skid row, interesting group of cliental, including quite a few hookers. I've never been propositioned more in any bar, outside of Bangkok or Panama City in the casino's. There is literally a check cashing place in this bar, which should tell you all you need to know. Overall though everyone was pretty chill, especially easy if you speak spanish. Finally after Campers we ended up at Hank's bar nearby. This place is awesome. The bartender there dropped more F bombs when speaking to the patrons than anywhere else. She also has one of the heaviest hands when it comes to pours, literally straight booze with a splash of mixer. Two people were thrown out for trying to start sh*t with other patrons, one of which was physically removed by the bartender herself. The bar is also attached to some hotel that I am pretty sure rents rooms by the hour. At one point in the night I went to use the bathroom in the lobby and this guy had this girl bent over the sink banging the heck out of her right there in the restroom. I went to take a **** and it didn't even phase them that I was standing right there.

Honestly that was a fun and interesting night. Just the contrast between a place like the Varnish and Hank's made for a great night of drinking. DTLA is honestly underrated big time as a great place to drink. I wish things were open past 2am though.

When I said ghetto fabulous in part of the criteria, this is exactly what I had in mind. Bravo, very good laugh out loud easy to imagine story bro. That's the kind of night that screen writing was made for.

Bringing up lots of good memories of my youth here. So many cities that had fun bars/clubs. OK, some of the best in no particular order would be New Orleans, Tampa, Bangkok, Kathmandu, and (summer only), Ocean City, MD.
