On April 6, 2014, the Chicago Tribune increased the newsstand price of its Sunday paper by 50 percent to $2.99 for a single copy. That's quite expensive for a newspaper. A sign of dwindling income at the Tribune HQ?

I don't pay for, subscribe to any newspaper at the moment. When I lived here, there, and somewhere else, I would subscribe to The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and sometimes The Washington Post, in that order. If I was really unhappy, I'd pick up a year of Smithsonian Magazine as well.

I haven't read a newspaper in a while, but I used to read USA Today and The Des Moines Register quite regularly. I also had a free subscription to the Wall not too long ago. My main news source is the Internet now. I like being able to filter what I want to know and the Internet has a plethora of information that you just can't get from a newspaper.

I subscribe to the local paper for local news - but I read full on-line version (which I pay access for) of the New York Times and then I read news feed versions of the UK Guardian (Americas version), the Oregonian (for state-level news) and the Washington Post.
