Ok I'll bite. What's "northeastern lifestyle" about any of these scenes? Are you trying to show something in particular? These look like random roadside shots in several northeastern and southeastern cities and towns. Other than sun glare, what are these shots supposed to have in common with one another?

All of the Google Street View images were taken in the Northeast. None of them are from the Southeast.

Yeah, except for these:

And mayyybe this one (I think Northeast or Southeast are acceptable for this one): https://www.google.com/maps/@38.8920...EvrWHdORpQ!2e0

The DC metro area has transplants from all over the world. It is hard to find any nationality that is not represented. That is the day-to-day reality of people who actually live, work and play here.

However, if someone comes and only stays put in a poor or run-down neighborhood somewhere, then I don't know about that experience. It could be totally different and probably is.

I thought you and I were talking about the DC suburbs.

Baltimore is more characteristically northeastern than DC. But Baltimore (and Maryland) doesn't have the numbers and percentages of White ethnics as other northeastern metros (states). I've assembled data on this too many times to count already.

Okay...

Baltimore and Washington DC are twin cities that are located exactly in the same region. Baltimore just happens to be more traditionally industrial-based than DC. That is why it has had a higher concentration of ethnic whites.

BTW, whenever I stay in Manhattan, I never get the feeling that it is an Italian city or an Irish city or Jewish city. Rather, it feels like a WORLD city. That is the key to the greater experience, for me at least.

Southern transplants also outnumber northeastern transplants in Montgomery County and Northern Virginia, which are not the most popular destinations for Blacks (compared to Prince George's and Charles Counties). FWIW, Blacks probably make up a disproportionate number of transplants from the Northeast too since Maryland is a hotspot for Black New Yorkers and Pennsylvanians along with Atlanta, North Carolina and Texas.

At the end of the day, I'm not sure why the race of the migrants even matters. A migrant is a migrant.

They aren't "twin" cities. Why is it that DC forumers on here want to claim Baltimore when it's convenient? Baltimore and DC feel quite different and anyone in the DC and Baltimore forums will tell you that.

Well, if Manhattan were the be all, end all of New York City and the metro area, then you would have a point. But it's not. There are an additional 7 million New Yorkers who live north of Central Park and in the other 4 Boroughs. And there are about 14 million more people who live in the metro area outside of the city limits.

You can get hints of Manhattan's ethnic past (especially Jewish) still in a way I couldn't with DC. Also, Manhattan is just one part of the New York area. Yes, the most important part, but not the only one.
