It is amazing. I was out there in January. I was thinking about moving to Seattle or Denver. After my visit, Portland was added to the mix. I decided to go with Denver, but I plan I visiting Portland and Oregon as often as possible. I really like how the city is laid out, and there is more of a downtown than I thought there would be. It has to be beautiful to walk around downtown in the summer. I also like the vibe of the city. I love how the Cascades, Coastal Range, the Pacific Coast, and the Gorge are close.

I've lived in the Portland area for 20 years it's very beautiful but we have a serious problem with traffic, homelessness, and it rains way too much.

Tries waaaaaayyyy too hard to be hip and cool as evidenced by the unofficial slogan, "Keep Portland Weird."

Portland has a guy in a chicken suit who roams the streets while playing the fiddle.

Portland also has the Never Never Van driven around by Extremo the Clown. Extremo drives around dressed as a clown holding a sock puppet out the window of his very ornamented, weird van.

We think it's a hipster haven with lots of homeless and a nice streetcar system in a very rainy climate 9 months of the year and sunny the other 3.

The best part about this thread, is it mostly shows how little people actually know about Portland and how much they rely on stereotypes rather than actually learning about cities...

I visited Portland a couple years ago. Beautiful city, great restaurants, lots of attractions and shopping. Nice place.

However there were a lot of homeless people and although I didn't really see it there are supposed to be a lot of hippie liberal types.
