I graduated in June with a sociology degree from a highly regarded university within the state. I am looking at Portland, Seattle, and Sacramento for jobs.
Which has the most opportunity for my degree? I'm looking into a social service job or sales job.
A degree in human behavior sciences might help a little if you want to be a law enforcement officer.
The problem with social service jobs is that there really isn't much funding for them, so any job position will be incredibly competitive. What "service" exactly are you talking about?
For sales, I think employers would be looking for applicants who have prior sales experience (retail managers, salesmen, etc).
In regard to your target cities, Seattle is pretty expensive and frankly I doubt an entry level job can pay for rent here besides maybe a micro-studio. Also, how much money do you have saved for your move? I would advise you to have at least $10,000 saved before moving.
