So basically to sum up what everybody else has says, your original premise has no real validity. I think that most Americans are patriotic, which to me is a good thing. Being patriotic doesn't automatically mean thinking there's nothing wrong with this country.

I'm well aware of America's faults, but my sense of pride and patriotism in my homeland gives me a desire to make it a better place.

I think if anything, Americans often tend to look at other countries with rose-colored glasses and are terribly unaware of those countries' faults. And, if anything, many other countries are the ones not acknowledging their faults but are instead projecting their faults onto the U.S. The U.S. often seems to be the scapegoat of the world.

Nah.. It's because America is the top dog superpower country in the whole world right now.

Anytime a country assumes this position, it makes the rest of the world's countries resentful and jealous. That's the way it's always been. Such is life.

This is one of, if not the single largest factor.

Every thread that starts with "why?" is begging the question.

Most of these sorts of threads are more a statement than a question. The OP loves swiping at America and Americans wherever they can get away with it; they're really just saying "Americans are so quick to point out other nations' faults." They just want to annoy Americans and put them on the defensive so that they can point out their faults; one of the most obvious signs of insecurity is projecting your hubris onto others, as is the case here.
