Hummm...most of the men I know with beards do not have tattoos (at least that I know of) and are professionals. But then again...I don't hang out with alot of biker gangs, cause then most of the men I knew would have tattoos and beards.
I really don't think they are related.
Here in Houston you see it all, but most men do not have a beard. Lots of people have tattoos, but it seems like women have visible tattoos more so I don't know if more women have tats or if they are just more seen on women. Also very neighborhood dependent.
In Minneapolis over the years tattoos have been a big thing with old school punks, ravers and hipsters, so there are about two generations of them out there.
Lots of people in Minnesota have beards, especially in the winter. It has always been like that. They really help with the wind chill.

Here in Seattle, it's not enough to just have a beard or just have some tattoos. You have to have both! I see many people everyday who have both tattoos and a beard. It's becoming more rare to see someone without any tattoos and without a beard.
So....you just answered the question regarding Houston.
Everywhere in Milwaukee within a hike of Lake Michigan. Especially Riverwest and Bayview neighborhoods.
