Reno...tattoos are very common in the 1990+ generation, to the point where they are excluded from many jobs that require tattoos to be covered during working hours and no more than 2 piercings per ear only. We have one young lady at the office who looks like she has been mauled by a cat with her multiple bandages to cover her tattoos at work. Guessing she will move on quickly as it is not attractive to our clients. And she has been complaining about how uncomfortable it is to wear long sleeves and pants and/or bandages all day every day. There is one restaurant in town that lost quite a bit of business over the last few years as the younger generation started moving into the work force that required them to cover thier tattoos at this restaurant. Many diners were put off by servers with ace bandages up both their arms. Not attractive or hygienic while serving food. Most 20-somethings are covered in sleeve tattoos and/or multiple large tattoos everywhere on their bodies. Reno has lots of tattoo parlors and plenty of freelancers.
To be clear, I have seen older people with tattoos here, but not as common except in certain socio-economic groups. And I may be missing a lot because I work in healthcare where tattoos are really frowned upon and must be covered if you have them.
Beards are not nearly as common in Reno probably due to the hot summers. They seem more popular up at Lake Tahoe.
